The Viking Walking Tour is a consequence of many years of guiding across two continents. The journey begun in 2008 in Latvia, Riga. After many years I had a chance to come back and attend the amazing tour with James - a great storyteller who begun the very first free tour in Baltic States, with whom I had a chance to begin this adventure that became my favorite job ever!
After the tour, we chatted for a short bit during which, Free Tour Community came up as a subject, so when I was ready, an email was sent, a meeting set up, and then Viking Walking Tour was accepted as a part of the community. Non-profit organization that offers one tour in each city, cherry picked, chosen.
For me, the free tour concept has always been the way to offer equity and share the same experience with everyone. It allows every participant to collaborate based on their level of satisfaction with the tour, regardless of financial capacity. The Free Tour Community stands by the same principle when offering the platform to guides - promoting collaboration among service providers without relying on increasing commissions, even though the tips received can vary widely. This approach across other platforms
always requires us to pay for each person. The Free Tour Community is built on mutual collaboration and voluntary support that we decide to give for the platform to grow!
In short, FTC offers the same philosophy that free tour guides offer to the people who come to hear our stories, and I am honored to be chosen to be part of this awesome community!
